The game requires the hero to overcome two basic obstacles: combat and the exploration of maze-like dungeons with occasional puzzles (mostly based on switches and inventory items). The dungeons lead the protagonist through varied places like castles or shipwrecks. The player controls a single hero (can be chosen between two female, two male and one lizard character) on a quest to destroy an evil warlord. I tried to label them/name them as best as I could when the NPC specifically doesn’t tell me their name.Anvil of Dawn is a role-playing game featuring pseudo-3D dungeons similar to those of Eye of the Beholder, but with solo gameplay and action-oriented combat reminiscent of Ultima Underworld games. Added NPC object-layer viewing for all NPC’s.Chests, stones and other objects no longer appear as “doors” on the map editor.I’m not sure why, but this seems to do the trick sometimes. If the changes you have made don’t seem to be appearing in-game straight away, try saving and reloading your game a couple of times. The utility can sometimes be quite laggy due to how the tile images are rendered in the window, but it shouldn’t be too bad. You could even make your own maze from scratch. It’s useful for adding shortcuts, or accessing some more “out of the way” areas. You can place tiles on the tile-layer to either add a wall, or remove a wall. However, you can still view objects I have documented, and the ones that I have not yet documented will appear as a “?”. This map editor does not yet support moving or adding object-layer entities (such as NPC’s, monsters, items, stairs, doors, etc.) but I am working on it. This utility is still in early development, so there are probably some bugs! Gates/portals to other maps are not showing.Ignore these until I can get it to read the data 100% correctly. When reading object layer data, some “dummy” objects may appear in strange parts of the map.I’m not sure of the trigger, so if you’re making an important edit, save frequently! “Save Changes” may rarely sometimes crash the program. I will probably post the source code here too once it’s completed, the code is clean and I’m happy with it. I haven’t got an original CD copy of the game to test with, so use at your own risk. Note: I have reason to believe this works with the GOG version only. Introducing the Anvil Of Dawn – Map Editor!
